What impressed you to create Textured Waves?
DANIELLE BLACK LYONS:
We [Chelsea Woody, Martina Duran and Danielle Lyons Black] met on-line and bonded over our shared experiences and love of the ocean. We didn’t really feel represented in surf media, so we determined to create an area for girls of colour to see themselves within the sea. We purpose to normalize imagery of black and brown faces in aquatic areas, with a mission to encourage extra girls of colour to attempt browsing.
